You only have one pair of eyes and ensuring that you have your eyes examined comprehensively and regularly is one of the most important investments you can make. At McAteer’s Optician we take the time to get it right. Your eye test will be carried out by a fully qualified, experienced optician who has at least 30 minutes to undertake an extensive range of eye testing procedures, using some of the most sophisticated eye testing equipment available.

OUR TEAM
My name is Mike and I own the practice. I qualified in London in 1982. I am a foundation fellow and a member of the International Opticians Association with a speciality in contact lenses. I have a special interest in children's eye care and advanced free form lenses. previously a post grad. ophthalmic lecturer and have experience in a hospital practice. I am keen to provide the best community eye care,so we are registered for direct cataract and glaucoma referrals and domiciliary eye care.
I qualified in 2011 and have been working with Mike and the team at McAteers since 2019. I have a special interest in paediatric optometry and dry eye assessments so love getting involved in the tear clinic. I work closely with Mike when reviewing and interpreting the OCT images. Outside of work I love to travel and am also a real bookworm.
Having qualified 16 years ago, I have worked with Mike for the past 4 years. I enjoy all aspects of Optometry, but have particularly enjoyed utilising the state of the art technology at McAteers, ranging from OCT scanning to ReadEZ Screening Software for diagnosing and managing visual stress. I love working in a family owned independent practice and having the time to get to know our lovely patients and taking care of their eyecare needs.
